The Art Barn Gallery will be hosting a silent auction on Saturday, September 28th beginning at 4pm.
There will be two pieces of art to be auctioned.
Byron Renderer will be auctioning an antique Eastlake sofa (circa 1800's) that he has reupholstered in modern fabric. The retail value of this piece of $800.00 and the starting bid will begin at $300.00.
Amy Fennelly will be auctioning off her infamous "Ashintully" collage. This piece was on display at Laurie Donovan Designs in Lenox, MA during her "Collage Landscapes & Mixed Media Work" show.
For those unaware, Ashintully Gardens is an 120 acre estate in Tyringham, Massachusetts that is maintained by The Trustees of Reservations land trust. The gardens, and adjoining 594 acres reservation, were the gift of John Stewart McLennan Jr., and his wife Katharine.
The garden's signature sight are the large pillars which remain from a fire that destroyed the 35-room Georgian-style mansion and 600 acres of dense woodland in 1952.
The home was built on the side of Round Mountain by Robb de Peyster Tytus and his wife, Grace Seeley Henop Tytus and is said to possibly been cursed from the work Robb de Peyster Tytus did excavating at Luxor, where he helped uncover the palace of King Amenhotep III, grandfather of King Tutankhamen.
The starting bid will begin at $300.00 for the "Ashintully" collage.
The auction is a wonderful chance to come see the art and meet the artists.
All are welcome.
