"THE CUT UP QUEENS"

 AMY FENNELLY & MARGIE NICOLL

September 7 - October 7, 2020

Margie Nicoll and Amy Fennelly met as art students in the 1980s at University of Massacusetts, Amherst.  Though collage was not very popular at the time, Amy and Margie were interested in new ways to combine drawing, painting, collage and assemblage.  Over thirty years later, both Margie and Amy are still intrigued by, and continue to create, mixed media works.

Their upcoming show, entitled; "THE CUT UP QUEENS" will be a coming together of Amy's and Margie's newest work as well as a few older pieces that hold a special place for each of them.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

MARGIE NICOLL

Margie Nicoll is an artist currently living in Roslindale, Massachusetts.  Margie has been creating and showing her talents in the art world for decades.

Margie began her time at University of Massachusetts Amherst as an art student focusing on interior design and painting.  In addition to painting, she is a talented collagist whose work was widely shown during the mid to late 80's in the Amherst and Northampton area.

Margie moved to Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts in 1989 where she has been involved in the local art and music scene for over thirty years.

She participates in the annual planning and production of the popular Jamaica Plain Music Festival. She is also a founding member of the literary arts magazine, COMPOST. The magazine was printed for a number of years and contained art in the form of poetry, photography, prints, and writing.

Around her time in publishing, Margie began creating her own performance art, combining her love for painting and live music.  Her music career continues today as lead singer and multi instrumentalist for the band,

"Harry and the Hot Flashes".

Her unusual style of combining paint, paper, photos, and other materials in additional to her love of music and other forms of expression has brought much attention to her work.
